Giving the Gift of New Footwear?

Matthew Neuhaus - Tuesday, December 03, 2013

If you’ve ever bought footwear as a gift before, you know how difficult it can be. Most people want to try on shoes before they buy them, and that is an important part of the shoe shopping process.

We have a few tips for you to remember when you are out shopping for shoes this holiday season:

  • Exchange sizes for shoes and clothing with your family members and close friends. That way, if they want to buy you shoes or clothes or the other way around, you have each other sizes and have a much better chance of getting it right!
  • Once you find a pair of shoes you want to buy as a gift, try them on in your own size. Some shoes just aren’t comfortable or they are hard to walk in, or are just not appropriate for some reason, and you want to know that before you give them as a gift.
  • Ask about the store’s return and exchange policy before you buy the shoes as a gift. Make sure the recipient will be able to return them with the receipt and make sure to include the receipt or whatever they will need with the gift. This is very important. You don’t want your friend or family member wearing painful or ill-fitting footwear because the shoes can’t be returned or exchanged.
